Raymonde Caroll, Cultural Misunderstandings, The French-American experience

Document de 2 pages au format WORD

    RÉSUMÉ

Essay on the book "Cultural Misunderstandings, The French-American experience", written by Raymonde Caroll, who wants to show us how the differences between French and American behaviour can cause a lot of misunderstandings.

    AUTRES

She gives us in this book a lot of conclusions coming from different reports of people she interviewed in different situations, and especially from French people living in the US. The first point we should notice is that misunderstandings are really numerous as if they were firmly rooted in our minds, as if we would never be able to understand each other. I mean that whatever the efforts we may do; the result will be the same: it will be very hard to avoid misunderstandings. The point is not to study the whole culture of each country but only to focus on some areas which may cause these cultural misunderstandings.
