TweeterThe aim of this exercise is to calculate the stress distribution and the elastic modulus of a glass fiber/epoxy composite with aligned short fibers. The stress distribution will be calculated by using three stress distribution models: the shear lag model with perfect interface bonding, the constant interface shear stress model with interface stress equals to the matrix yield stress and the same as the previous one but with an interface crack with a friction at the interface leading to constant shear stress.
Extract:
In this homework, we have studied three different models to determine the stress distribution
into a fiber for short fiber composites.
We can say that predicting the stress distribution into short fiber composites is not a simple
work because it depends on how you can take into account the phenomenon at the interface
and findings the frictional stress at the interface is not a simple work.
Thanks to this homework, we have shown that the axial stress taken by the fiber and so, the
stress taken by the composite is strongly relied to the interface shear stress which shows the
importance of interfaces into the mechanics of composites.

Much emphasis is put on the role of the media in this short story. How does the media serve as a significant force in man's ability to think for himself in Kurt Vonnegut's text and what parallels can we draw between it and what was happening in 1961.
