Résumé
In this passage, an important event appears. The magistrate hears witnessed accounts of fishermen discovering the strangled body that is still warm and seeing a man row away in a boat like the one Frankenstein arrives in. As he listened, Frankenstein heard the similarity between William's murder and this one. M. Kirwin showed to Frankenstein the body; it is his best friend, Henry Clerval. Frankenstein throws himself upon the body, and becomes almost mad with grief and guilt; he is carried from the room in convulsions. He lapses into a delirious fever for several months, ranting and raving (delirant) about killing the monster. He is imprisoned because they think that he is the murderer.
