Résumé

Do we want to see our natural resources so endangered that we could not achieve economic and social development any longer? Can we allow ourselves to ruin the future of our planet today without any concern for the coming generation? Are consumption and superficial needs more important than a sustainable life with renewing process and equality worldwide? Here are the core questions that one has to ask if he or she wants to correctly tackle the problem of environmental decline in front of economic development. Ice meltdown, Global Warming, nuclear accidents, chemical contamination of the atmosphere and the water...the list of human damage on the environment could be so long. We, as human beings, cannot let our planet suffer the consequences of our irresponsible economic and industrial development. But hopes could be well founded here since scientists and businessmen worldwide have already researching and implementing new means to produce and meet people's economic needs without jeopardizing the environment: it is called sustainable development. Solar and wind powers are renewable energies. They can be used as substitutes in many industries and electricity plants. But our issue is not simply ethical; it is economic too. When money is at stake, there are always complications. Now, considering the above statements, this essay will aim at answering the following question: how can we meet environmental criteria worldwide despite different levels of economic and social expansion and how can we keep going as industrial countries with economic progress thanks to sustainable energies and development? This essay will provide sufficient examples and arguments to set the opinion of the author with regards to the potential limits human beings should establish to protect their environment.
