Résumé
Teleworking is an emerging form of flexible work. Two of its main components are working from non-traditional locations and using information and computer technologies.
Interests in teleworking have grown among employers and employees since the development of new technologies enabling to efficiently do it. Recent advances in desktop computers, laptops, and communications have enabled millions of people to work away from the office.
Today, thanks to these telecommunications, almost half of all jobs in North America and Europe could be performed away from a traditional office. To give an idea of the importance of this trend, in 2003, more than 137 million workers worldwide were involved in some form of teleworking.
