Résumé
Resources in Vietnam are nowadays a very big stake for the country.
Indeed, there are the keys of the country development in an economic view but also and especially in an environmental aspect.
Forest resources are one of them.
Vietnam has a landmass of 330,000 km2, administratively divided in 61 provinces.
But the landscape of Vietnam is becoming different. Indeed the several wars, the high population pressure and the aggressive economic development policy since the 1960s in the north and since the late 1970s in the South have been the main factors that lead to this changing landscape pattern.
The forest conservation is really important for environmental nowadays in Vietnam.
Natural gas resource is another environmental factor in Vietnam.
Indeed the production and consumption of natural gas is increasing rapidly since 90's and was around 141 billion cubic feet in 2005. The problem is that there is only a few numbers of fields which can provide new natural gas.
Oil resource is also one of the environmental factors in Vietnam.
Indeed, the Vietnam has 600 million barrels of proven oil reserves, but Vietnam hasn't oil refineries because its production is almost all destined to the exportation.
Oil output decreased in the last 2 years in Vietnam after a lot of years of increasing.
Marine and coastal environmental protection is one of the key of environmental factor in Vietnam. The problem is that in the last few years, the growth rate of industrial production as a percentage of GDP increase around 10-15% in these regions.
The pollution is one of the consequence of the industrialization of the coast but also the tourism which increase more than 400% and will increase around 1000% until 2010.
The stake here is to protect the marine and coasts environment.
Coal in Vietnam is the last topic that we spoke about.
Coal is a modest but growing part of Vietnam's energy mix.
Indeed, the production of coal is increasing but it is a bad thing for the environment because of the pollution rejection into the air and the bad effects on the population (sicknesses and troubles).
We specify our research of three subtopics:
- Marine and coastal environmental protection; it is a really important problem nowadays in Vietnam. One of the problem is the tourism
- Coal; the production is becoming higher in Vietnam, especially for the exportation and its can causes lot of bad effects on the environment on the population.
- Forest Conservation is the third topics that we chose to keep in charge because the deforestation caused a lot of bad effects of the Vietnamese environment and the trees are very important for the ecosystem and the biodiversity.
It would be interesting to develop theses subtopics in this report by showing the SWOT, PEST and the solution that we can bring to the different problems.
