Soils used for intensive vegetable production often become depleted in their organic matter content, and consequently low in their microbial activity. Interest in the use of compost in organic production is becoming more common among growers of both row and permanent crops.
Besides, the use of organic by-products as soil amendments in agricultural production exemplifies a strategy for converting wastes to resources.
Agricultural practices such as incorporating organic amendments and managing the type and quantity of crop residue have a direct impact on plant health and crop productivity.
The experiment was carried out at the experimental station of the Technical Centre for Organic Agriculture (Tunisia), to study the effects of various organic matter sources on vegetable crops; mainly based on different combinations of animal (...)
