The Messenger directed by Luc Besson, a French director, relates the story of Joan of Arc, a French national heroine who in the early 15th century defeated the armies of England and liberated France.

More than 20 films, including adaptations on TV and documentaries were made on Joan of Arc. Her story had always intrigued directors because she is a strong symbol of France and feminism, and her story is often considered as a legend because of difficulties to find primary sources. It is interesting to study the film of Luc Besson, because it is the most contemporary, The Messenger gives us a new point of view of history (...)
