Sam Walton, a businessman from Arkansas, began his retail career when he started work on June 3, in 1940. He has owned a couple stores and had an idea some day to run his own company and have his own retail chain. By the July, 1962 Sam Walton has opened the first Walmart Discount City store, after five years, the company expanded to 24 stores across Arkansas and reached $12.6 million in sales. In 1968, it opened its first stores outside Arkansas, in Sikeston, Missouri and Claremore, Oklahoma. After several years Walmart has spread to Midwest states of America. The company was incorporated as Walmart Stores, Inc. on October 31, 1969. In 1970 and it has opened its home office and first distribution center. At that time Walmart has set a stepping stone to their successful and most dominant corporation in the World. Walmart had 38 stores operating with 1,500 employees and sales of $44.2 million.
On October 1, 1972 it had appeared in New York Stock Exchange progressions, and later the stocks had split increasing the company's revenue dramatically. During the 1970s Wal-mart has expanded the numbers of the stores in the United States and began to be recognized by thousands of Americans. (...)
