It is difficult to summarize twenty-four various texts and pictures about the humanity in the city of London. It is hard because the word 'humanity' has several meanings (human beings in general, and the quality of being humane) and because all these documents about London have been written or painted or engraved at different times; by different kinds of people: novelists, painters, journalists, poets, Londoners or foreigners; about different sorts of events, from the most common one to the Great Exhibition.
