Résumé

This extract / excerpt is taken from the first page of the novel Cider with Rosie, written by Lawrie Lee, a famous English writer who died at the end of the 20th century. The writer is three when his family arrives in the small village of Slad (South-East of England). It takes place during the last year of World War One, in summer. In this passage, the young boy is exploring his new environment and then we're introduced to his family. In fact, this is the order I'm going to follow to present you this extract.
