"Since August 1996, all of England's major cities except Leeds have video surveillance systems in their centers. Nottingham, the very heart of England, is one of those cities. It is the place where most of teenagers would like to live because it is a twenty-four hour city. Indeed, it is a lively city with bars, restaurants, clubs and pubs which are accumulating. Nevertheless, it is also one of the most violent cities after London, Birmingham and Manchester. That is why, 400 cameras were put in place in the streets and supervised by CCTVs. They are not hidden, citizens know they are being filmed but they continue to behave badly. The crime rate continues to increase: we can count approximately 30 crimes per day every day. Seeing the events, we can wonder if cameras are useful and if citizens and the government should continue to fund for street video surveillance."
