Résumé
Essay on the sources of british constitutional law. It has often been said that England lacks a constitution, and has at best an “unwritten constitution”. But this assertion is misleading because in all systems of government there must be some means of setting out the main functions and the workings of the organs and of regulating the exercice of theirs powers. In all but a handful of countries in the world there is a single written formal document which is known as the constitution. The role of a constitution is to set out the multiple workings of the government, to organize the powers and to garantee fundamental freedoms and rights.
