General reflexion on the consequences of welfare state benefits on laziness and incentives. Unemployment traps, free riders.... generous welfare benefits are ideologically ambiguous. A subsistence level unconditional income gives people the freedom to refuse a job if they choose to settle for living on social protection. But welfare benefits can also contribute to human freedom by making it possible for people to drop out of the world of paid employment to pursue an education, look for a new job, start a business, or raise children.

Hence, the welfare state has been implemented to choose to rather give the hand to the men for the choice of their destiny than to the alleged natural laws.
