This assignment deals with the privatization policies and their impact on the economy and bases the concrete study on the French economy since the public sector has always played a specific part in this country. The methodology used consists into a collect of information about the economic facts (privatizations in France) and then a justified analysis of the impacts of these policies on the economy, basing some of the arguments on analysts' references. First this assignment provides a short definition of the terms that are used later on so as to provide to the reader a better understanding of the presented facts. Then, this assignment gives an overview of the French privatization policies that occurred during the 80s and the 90s in order to demonstrate the strength and the importance of this process in France. Finally, from this historical background this study analyses the impact of privatization policies on the French economy, from the most obvious effects to the most debated ones: from the effects on the government funds of course, to the effects on employment status and above all on the development of Paris stock exchange market. This analysis ends with some thoughts about the future of privatizations and the part that it plays in the liberalization of an economy.
